XRDML

Leading the way forward in data sharing

PANalytical was the first to introduce a data platform, based on the universal standard XML, for its X'Pert range of XRD software packages. This gives users complete control over their XRD measurement data.

In the XRDML data platform, ASCII format XRD measurement data are stored in XML based files (.XRDML files) that contain all measurement data as well as all information required to reproduce the data, including instrument type and settings.

XML schema

The data are written in accordance with the XML schema. The information contained in the schema gives users the possibility to develop tailor-made programs to process their measurement data in any way they need.

Ownership and copyright of the schema lies exclusively with PANalytical, as well as the right to make successor or derivate versions of the schema. However, PANalytical takes no responsibility for any disadvantages or damages caused by the use of this published schema.

Sharing complete and traceable results

The data platform allows users of XRD systems to share their measurements with others, such as colleagues, fellow researchers, or authorities. Since the applicable XML schema includes all information about the measurement and the equipment used, the XRDML platform allows complete traceability of results.

Additional information

From this website you can download the XML schema itself, view a document which contains extra information about the schema, and download a number of scripts that can be used with the X'Pert Automatic Processing Program, which is part of the X'Pert Data Collector and X'Pert Industry programs. You can also link to the PANalytical website as well as to various websites containing XML background information.
